Mike Lynch and his daughter, Hannah, were discovered dead in the cabin of the sunken Bayesian yacht. The vessel, which capsized while carrying 22 people, tragically resulted in multiple casualties, including the father and daughter.
The bodies of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter, Hannah, have been identified among the wreckage of the sunken Bayesian yacht. Earlier reports stated that of the six people initially reported missing, two bodies had been recovered, but their identities had not yet been confirmed.
Angela Bacares, the wife of Mike Lynch, reportedly escaped the sinking yacht before it capsized. Salvo Cocina, head of Sicily’s civil protection, stated that divers have now discovered two additional bodies and are continuing the search.
Mike Lynch and his daughter’s dead bodies recovered
According to The Telegraph, the bodies of Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter were found on Wednesday in one of the ship’s cabins, lodged “between two mattresses.” Rescue teams had been searching for the missing passengers from the Bayesian yacht since August 21.
“On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I extend our deepest sympathy to the victims’ families and offer our heartfelt condolences during this challenging time,” Salvo Cocina conveyed to The Telegraph.
The tragedy struck the Lynch family just weeks after Mike Lynch, often referred to as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” walked out of a San Francisco courthouse a free man. Following a 13-year legal battle, he tearfully vowed to advocate for changes to Britain’s extradition laws.
How many people are still missing from the Bayesian superyacht tragedy?
Among those still unaccounted for are notable figures such as Morgan Stanley chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, as well as New York attorney Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda, a jewelry designer. Morvillo, who also served as Mike Lynch’s attorney, played a crucial role in clearing him of fraud charges related to the 2011 sale of his company, Autonomy, to Hewlett-Packard.
