White House Condemns Trump’s ‘Antisemitic’ Comments on Josh Shapiro in Strongly Worded Statement

In response to the GOP presidential nominee’s critical remarks, Josh Shapiro stated, “It’s evident that over the past few years, Donald Trump has become obsessed with me.”

The White House issued a strong condemnation of Trump’s remarks about Shapiro on Thursday, labeling them as “antisemitic.” The former president targeted the Pennsylvania Governor in a harsh Truth Social post late Wednesday, criticizing Shapiro’s speech at the Democratic National Convention as “really bad and poorly delivered.” The 51-year-old Democrat has since hit back at Trump’s scathing comments.

After the third day of the DNC, Trump criticized Shapiro on his social media platform, referring to him as “the highly overrated Jewish Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” Trump further remarked, “Josh Shapiro gave a really bad and poorly delivered speech about freedom and fighting for Comrade Kamala Harris for President.”

In response to these harsh comments, Shapiro stated, “It’s clear that over the past few years, Donald Trump has become obsessed with me and continues to spread hate and division in our politics. He’s someone who routinely pushes antisemitic tropes like this,” according to The Hill.

Shapiro emphasized that his speech was the exact opposite of what Trump described. “I’m talking about genuine freedom—bringing people together, accepting others regardless of what they look like, where they come from, who they love, or who they pray to. This is a place for everyone,” Shapiro clarified. “That’s fundamentally opposed to everything Donald Trump stands for, and it’s clear he will remain the hateful, divisive figure he has always been in this campaign,” he added.

Meanwhile, Herbie Ziskend, the White House’s Principal Deputy Communications Director, also condemned Trump in a strong statement, saying, “It is antisemitic, dangerous, and harmful to attack a fellow American by singling out their Jewish faith in a derogatory manner or by perpetuating the age-old ‘dual loyalty’ smear. President Biden and Vice President Harris firmly believe that as Americans, we must unite to condemn and combat antisemitism, as well as all forms of hate and bigotry.”
